The Rosette Sword or Black Sword, Echinodorus parviflorus it has short and thick rhizome with extensive root system. Rosulate, dense leaves on short leaf stems grow from the rhizome. The leaf blade is elongated, oval-shaped with pointed tip. It is about 6-8″ long and 1-1.5″ wide. The species can also develop above-water leaves and flower stalk but the plant blooms only above the water surface. The ‘Black’ part of the name refers to the dark coloured nervation that appears when new leaves first shoot.
